Historical Reenactment

Maureen Patrick is a living history professional, but she also enjoys historical reenactment as a recreational pastime. At historic sites and events throughout the Southeast, you may see her in one of several “personae.” These include the wife of a deerskin trader at Savannah, circa 1763, a French and Indian War Era Muskogee Creek/French métisse (mixed blood) woman from West Florida, and a Cuscowilla (Brooksville, Florida) Seminole woman in the Second Seminole Wars (1830s.)

Maureen’s interpretive specializations usually revolve around women’s work and women’s roles. A noted researcher on Southeastern Native American cultural history, she has authored the first and only annotated Guidelines for Seminole Women Reenactors, and is in demand by Florida’s State Historic Parks to assist in designing/improving living history programs.
